When online communities look like nails

Speaking of wikis – I was at the Craigslist Nonprofit BooCamp a couple of weeks ago as an “expert” on technology.  One question I got was from someone setting up what he hoped would be a community site for Silicon Valley-area nonprofits – on a Wikipedia-spinoff called Wikia.

I think it’s a mis-application of the tool, but that’s just my opinion (more clarification here).  I’m just glad that I wasn’t the person who recommended Drupal, which I myself have recommended so I often wonder if it’s my own personal hammer (given the the subject line. )
